Last Monday was awesome! It was a “work at the kitchen table” kind of day, and I ROCKED IT!
My main goal was finding the perfect audio track for a new client’s video production. I’ve always found that to be one of the most time-consuming elements of production, so when I finalized it in 45 minutes, all before lunch time, I WON! It didn’t hurt that it was holiday music, but the point is that I was completely unstoppable. I was crossing off to-do list items left and right…with my baby at home! I even managed to finish folding laundry during nap time! WHAT?!?
Tuesday was another winning day (two in a row? RARE!). I even managed to prep for dinner (chop, slice, dice, peel, etc.) before picking up my son from school that day.
The rest of the week was a slow decline, due in large part to the 18-month sleep regression. Um, I’m sorry. How many people in my life neglected to warn me that this is a thing?
I managed to beat a client deadline and finally put up the last set of Christmas lights on Wednesday, but I have no idea how. I couldn’t focus to save my life that day. I was utterly useless on Thursday after waking up at 1:00 AM, 3:30 AM, and 4:30 AM. And I can’t even remember what Friday looked like. No productivity was attempted during the weekend, so we arrive again at Monday.
Just a major fail.
I had seven items on my to-do list. I checked off ONE. And the night ended in a FLOOD of tears…and not from my 18-month-old.
Some days are just plain awful. Some WEEKS are just plain awful…for all of us–“stay-at-home” moms, part-time working moms, full-time working moms–all of us!
But at the end of the day (literally), we win simply because we “mommed” that day.
Here’s to Tuesday and the rest of the week!
