Historical Election – Sharmaine Mitchell

Whether you’re for Obama or McCain, you have to admit that this is pretty neat. This is only my 3rd election, but I think most people can say that they can’t remember an election being quite this charged.

On Saturday, Lee and I were at Jason’s Deli on 10th Street, and on our way in, this is what we saw. The energy in the air was really amazing, although there were clearly people around who were not supporters of Obama. Yet, they displayed (subtly, of course) an appreciation for the excitement, because again, when was the last time you remember an election like this? I really wanted to get this on video, just to show my kids one day, because it really is a testament to how historical this election is. This is another one of those things that could go in a time capsule for this time period.

And…from a musical standpoint, it really is a nice song. Lee and I think it sounds like a typical R. Kelly “anthem”. He wasn’t going to rest until we found it online:

Here’s another time capsule item. It’s to the tune of T.I.’s song, “Whatever You Like” (which I really like, by the way). These are students at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. I LOVE IT!! That’s the beauty of our country:

Here’s the story from ABC World News about the students at Ron Clark Academy. It’s a really neat story; the idea for this song came out of a debate class. These kids probably know more about the core issues than many adults!
